It’s been  a great summer full of Yoga “newness” for me.  I have explored the energetic lift of  an Ashtanga class.  I am also attending a class at Yoga on High in Columbus on postural alignment.  The small shifts in posture lend relief to habitual hot spots of tension.   My teacher, Mary Sinclair,  will teach a workshop on Balance Yoga (postural alignment) on October 3 in Yoga Springs Studio.  Following her workshop I will begin an 8 week class with the basics of this yoga practice

In Spring, the slow, moving warmth of the sun brings creations of nature to new forms of life.  This natural cycle is not unlike warming our body through asanas and revealing our true meditation nature.  The ponderous piles of thoughts coming and going yet we see and feel the “bigger sky” of our being, renewing the deep calm within.

When the Beatles “sat” with the Maharaji it started! So now a new millenium later, the practices of meditaton and yoga have taken a good hold of our culture.

The practice of “nondoing” or sitting quietly is now being re-evaluated by our culture especially the Western medical field.  They now endorse developing the ability to hold a quiet inner space to calm the central nervous system.  This being a great benefit to prevent illness and even to help heal ourselves.

Yoga movements bring us to feel and know (as our beloved president Barack Obama says), “we are one”. Ah yes, and just how do we sustain this wholeness.

Conscious discipline, sounds hard. Of all the other hard things you’ve done, ride a bike, drive a car, learn to walk, you know the drill. Keep going and it’s alot more fun to do it together.
